This motorcycle is equipped with a exhaust device system. This system controls the valve in the exhaust pipe and produces stable engine power at low and middle engine speed. This exhaust device is controlled by the ECU, and adjustment or maintenance should be done only by a competent mechanic following the instructions in the Service Manual.

Install the air suction valve so that opening [A] of the reed
faces downward.
Apply a non-permanent locking agent to the threads of
the air suction valve cover bolts [A], and tighten them.

87 in·lb)

Insert/Journal Wear Inspection
Split the crankcase (see Crankcase Splitting).
Cut strips of plastigage to journal width.
Place a strip on each journal parallel to the crankshaft
installed in the correct position.
Tighten the crankcase bolts to the specified torque (see
